Big Brother Australia renewed for new season?

Seven in Australia reportedly gives the go-ahead to another season of Big Brother in its new format.

Seven has reportedly decided to give the go-ahead to a new season of Big Brother after attracting decent ratings for the current run.

Following an absence of almost six years, Seven has revived the show in Australia with the North American format, which sees the contestants vote each other out rather than the public deciding who goes.

During the first fortnight, BB is thought to have brought in Seven's best ratings in the key youth demographics in a decade, and according to the Daily Mail, that has led the broadcaster to order another season using the new format.

"We have delivered a reinvention of the format for the 2020 television landscape and audiences are loving it," Seven programming director Angus Ross told the Herald Sun.

"On top of the broadcast success in all key demographics Big Brother is currently the highest streamed show in Australia driving 7Plus's leadership in the category."

The current season, which was filmed before the coronavirus shutdown, will conclude later in the year with a live finale.
