Farida Khalifa admits to using Big Brother as an opportunity to promote her makeup business.

Farida Khalifa has admitted that she went on Big Brother to promote her makeup business.

On Friday, the 50-year-old, who hails from the Black Country, became the first evictee of this year's series after losing out in the first public vote to Kerry Riches.

During her time in the house, Farida spoke often of her experience as a businesswoman, a topic that irked some of her housemates, but she has now revealed that it was a deliberate ploy.

"I made it very clear to them, I said 'have you lot not got a strategy while you're here?'," Farida told The Sun.

"For me, I set out what I wanted to achieve and that is to gain my followers to, you know, grow my business, my profile.

"I said to them 'you should have a purpose' and it made them feel threatened."

She added: "You have to be smart and I am smart, I'm sorry.

"People might say I was all 'me, me me.' Well, absolutely, why shouldn't I?"

Big Brother continues Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
