Brian Dowling accuses E4's Big Brother: Best Shows Ever of 'rewriting history'

Former Big Brother host Brian Dowling accuses Channel 4 of "trying to rewrite history" by leaving him out of E4's Best Shows Ever.

Brian Dowling has accused Channel 4 of "trying to rewrite history" with its retrospective series Big Brother: Best Shows Ever.

The 10-part E4 series, which concludes tonight, has seen original Big Brother host Davina McCall and Bit on the Side presenter Rylan Clark-Neal introduce their favourite episodes from the Channel 4 era of the BB archives.

The show has also featured guest appearances from BBLB's Dermot O'Leary and Emma Willis, who hosted the main show for the last six years of its run on Channel 5.

Notably absent from proceedings was former contestant Dowling, who took over from McCall when the show moved to Channel 5 before being ditched in favour of Willis after two years.

Replying to a Twitter follower who had commented on his "strange" omission, Dowling wrote: "You are not the only one. Actually at this stage it's getting rather funny.People trying to rewrite history."

Having noticed the exchange, McCall then added her own reply, saying: "We haven't talked about Brian presenting as this is the channel 4 years as you have probably noticed. He presented on channel 5 . We had Emma and dermot on as they both worked on channel 4 big brother . We love @brianofficial. A lot. We showed him in bb2"

Dowling remains the only person to have ever triumphed in Big Brother UK on two separate occasions, having won his original series in 2001 and the all-star Ultimate Big Brother in 2010.
