ITV is reportedly closing in on deciding a location for the new Big Brother house ahead of the show's 2023 revival on ITV2.
Earlier this month the broadcaster confirmed that it is bringing back the iconic reality show for a new six-week series next year, five years after its axe by Channel 5.
The house used for much of the show's original run, located in Elstree, has since been demolished, meaning that producers will now have to find a new location for the new series.
According to The Sun, scouts have now whittled down the list of potential locations to just three - all in North London - and are planning to build a "huge" new house from scratch, in a sign that the show's future could extend beyond just one series.
A source told the newspaper: "The network is clearly in this for the long haul and plans on a successful multi-series run with Big Brother, just like Channel 4 did back in the day.
"Channel bosses don't want to be moving locations and dealing with the often complicated rules and regulations of renting out a space.
"Building their own Big Brother house will remove any risk. It'll mean they can pretty much do whatever they want."
"They'll choose between the three locations on their shortlist soon," the insider added. "Once they've decided, they'll have the builders move in as soon as possible to bring the next Big Brother house to life.
"They're already working on designs of how they want the house to look.
"It's important to them that they put their own stamp on it while still giving plenty of nostalgia for long-time fans to enjoy."
Alison Hammond is reportedly the favourite to host the new series, which is expected to begin on ITV2 in May.
