Amanda Holden promises game-changing Britain's Got Talent finals

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden claims that the show will be "leading the way" with studio audiences when the live finals air later this year.

Amanda Holden has teased a brand new way of involving a live audience in the upcoming Britain's Got Talent finals.

This year's series went on hiatus last month after the final pre-recorded auditions episode aired, with staging the live finals at that time impossible due to the coronavirus shutdown.

The conclusion to the show will go ahead this autumn, ITV has previously confirmed - although there had been speculation that the episodes would air without an audience present.

Speaking on her Heart Radio show today, the long-serving judge told listeners: "I spoke to the producers yesterday and we remain hopeful that there'll be a big family audience for BGT and I'm just going to say, we will be leading the way for the future in TV in how people will watch our show live."

Pressed for more details by co-host Jamie Theakston, she added: "Yes, we're going to be leading the way on how our audience sees Britain's Got Talent this year. Watch and learn people. I'm not giving it away because I don't want all the other shows to nick the idea!"

An exact transmission date for the finals, which will comprise five semis and one finale, has yet to be confirmed, although previous reports have suggested that it may be scheduled for some time in September.
