Ant and Dec 'looking to enter streaming market'

Ant and Dec are reportedly looking to enter the lucrative streaming service market with new and existing TV formats.

TV presenting duo Ant and Dec have reportedly decided to get involved in the lucrative streaming market.

The TV landscape has changed significantly in the last 10 years, with the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video now on a par with traditional broadcasters in both popularity and esteem.

Ant and Dec are both tied to ITV in a golden handcuffs deal for shows including Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain's Got Talent and I'm A Celebrity but have a production company together - Mitre Television Limited - and according to The Sun, they have hired a new business manager to pitch new and existing formats to streaming services.

"Ant and Dec have dominated our screens for years but now they'd like to have a shot working with the streaming giants – including Netflix," a source told the newspaper.

"They're tied up in a mega-money deal with ITV so won't be appearing on screen but want their production company to push into the market. There are endless opportunities for their old formats which could end up being put onto streaming platforms.

"They own the back catalogue to Byker Grove and SMTV so there's scope to get those back out there for fans on a platform like Netflix.

"Plus there are new and exciting ideas that their teams have come up with that could work really well for the streaming giants. Netflix is the obvious target but there is scope for ideas that could work on Apple and Amazon too.

"Ant and Dec's TV business is hugely lucrative, as well as massively successful, and this could be another huge money spinner for them."

The pair have recently revealed plans to reunite with Cat Deeley for a new one-off episode of SMTV, 22 years after the show first aired.
