Archaeology presenter Neil Oliver joins GB News
GB News announces that archaeology presenter Neil Oliver will host a new weekly show on the channel.

Neil Oliver, best known for presenting a host of documentaries on archaeology, is a surprise new addition to the on-air team for GB News.

The 54-year-old Scot will host a weekly show on the upcoming new channel which aims to focus on "people from all walks of life who make Britain great".

Oliver, whose credits include A History of Ancient Britain, Scotland and the Klan and Coast, said: "My career has always been driven by my fascination about people, whether it's trying to understand ancient people through archaeology or living ones through journalism.

"Debate in this country has been stifled for so long that GB News feels like opening a window and letting in some fresh air, fresh perspectives and fresh voices.

"I never imagined my career would take this turn but I'm hugely excited that it has."

Meanwhile, GB News has also announced its first two regional presenters, bringing in Rachel Sweeney from ITV Tyne Tees and Lily Hewitson from BBC Wales.

The new channel does still not have a confirmed launch date, although it is expected to begin broadcasting before the end of June.
