BARB reveals latest streaming service subscriber numbers in UK

TV ratings provider BARB publishes its latest breakdown of the number of subscribers to streaming services in the UK.

TV ratings provider BARB has revealed that 19.1 million UK households have now subscribed to at least one streaming service provider.

The figure, which equates to 66.9% of UK homes, is for the end of Q4 2021 and represents an increase from 18.7 million (65.8%) in the previous quarter.

A significant proportion have access to more than one streaming service, with some 12.4 million households subscribing to at least two of the major players.

Netflix led the way with 16.8 million households (88% of all households with a streamer), while Amazon's Prime Video service was available in 12.6 million.

Disney+, which launched in March 2020, grew to 5.5 million households and Sky's Now TV service inched up slightly to 2.1 million homes.
