Channel 4 launches its streaming app via Sky Q in the UK and Ireland.

Channel 4 has officially launched its app via Sky Q in the UK and Ireland.

Until now customers have had access to a range of shows from the Channel 4 archive through the Catch-up and On-demand sections of the Sky guide, but the launch of the app brings the full service to the platform for the first time.

The move means that thousands of hours of shows and movies, as well as live streams, will become available, while the 'My List' function allows users to bookmark their favourite programmes.

"With today's launch we're bringing the very best, personalised Channel 4 streaming experience to millions of Sky Q customers across the country," said Karla Berry, C4's distribution and partnerships leader. "Over the coming months viewers can expect to see us continue to enhance our presence across multiple platforms."

Jon Simkin, MD of partnerships at Sky, added: "We aim to give our customers the best entertainment experience, so we're thrilled to be expanding Channel 4's offering on Sky Q just in time for the Christmas period.

"Adding to the huge selection of content and apps already available on Sky Q and through our on-demand library, the launch of the Channel 4 app makes it even easier for viewers to access the content they love, all in one place."

Channel 4 also revealed plans to make use of 'Live Restart' functionality on Sky Q from 2024.
