Discovery is reportedly in talks with BT about getting involved with BT Sport as a joint-venture partner.
Earlier this year telecoms giant BT appointed a third party to explore options for the future of BT Sport, including an outright sale or reworking the operation as a joint venture.
Streaming service DAZN recently emerged as the frontrunner to acquire BT Sport outright, but according to the Financial Times, Discovery is now in intense negotiations about forging a partnership.
Discovery already operates Eurosport, which has the rights to the Olympic Games, and linking up with BT would create a serious player in the UK TV market.
BT is expected to make a final decision on the future of BT Sport before Christmas.
