New broadcaster GB News has acquired the slot of Nigerian news channel TVC News on Sky ahead of its launch next month.
The new service, which revealed earlier today that it will go live on June 13, will be available on Sky channel 515.
Under standard procedure, new channels launching on Sky are added to the bottom of their category section on the EPG - and in the case of news, the next available slot is channel 524, below the likes of TRT World and Arirang TV.
Rules allow broadcasters to pay to take another broadcaster's more lucrative slot higher up the EPG if a deal can be reached, however, and GB News has secured such a deal for channel 515 - currently occupied by TVC News, which is expected to make way and move to channel 524.
As a result of the deal GB News will sit just below Al Jazeera HD in the lineup, six places higher than it was due to appear but still 12 places below Sky News and 10 places below the BBC News channel.
The change is expected to take place in the next week, with GB News due to begin a video preview loop next Monday, May 31.
Meanwhile, the channel has also confirmed that it will be available on slot 626 on Virgin Media, just below Japanese service NHK.
