ITV has confirmed that it will host the first of this year's election debates between Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour leader Keir Starmer.
The PM has announced a general election for July 4 and there are expected to be a number of head-to-head debates between the two main candidates in the coming weeks.
ITV will be first off the mark with a debate this coming Tuesday, June 4, with a 70-minute programme hosted by seasoned moderator Julie Etchingham airing live from 9pm.
Michael Jermey, ITV's director of news, said: "Millions of viewers value the election debates. They provide a chance to see and hear the party leaders set out their pitch to the country, debate directly with each other and take questions from voters.
"ITV is pleased to be broadcasting the first debate in this year's election campaign."
After the debate concludes, ITV will broadcast a series of interviews with leaders from the other main parties, with tailored programmes airing on ITV1 Wales and STV in Scotland.
