News legend Larry King, 87, hospitalised with coronavirus

Veteran broadcaster Larry King is hospitalised in Los Angeles with coronavirus.

Veteran news broadcaster Larry King has been hospitalised in Los Angeles with coronavirus, his former network CNN has reported.

The 87-year-old has worked in the media since 1950s and is most known for his high-profile interview show Larry King Live, which ran on CNN between 1985 and 2010.

According to the network, King has been at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in LA battling COVID-19 without visitors for more than a week - meaning that he spent Christmas and New Year alone in hospital.

King has a history of health problems, including several heart attacks, forcing him to undergo a quintuple bypass in 1987, as well as a stroke and lung cancer, while he also suffers from Type 2 diabetes.

The journalist's advanced age and underlying health issues leave him at severe risk of coronavirus complications, although reports about his hospitalisation have made clear that his current condition is unknown.

Last year King suffered the heartache of losing two of his children within weeks of each other and due to coronavirus protocols, his three surviving sons have been unable to see him since his hospitalisation.
