Sky makes its Sky Sports F1 channel available in Ultra HD on a full-time basis.

Sky has made its Sky Sports F1 channel available in Ultra HD full time ahead of the new season.

In previous seasons, viewers have had the option to select UHD coverage of live F1 events around race weekends, but now Sky has rolled out a 24/7 UHD channel.

Sky Sports F1 UHD is available by default on channel 406 for eligible Sky Q and Sky Glass customers, smart swapped with the regular HD version on channels 857 and 3046 respectively.

The new service becomes Sky's second full-time UHD channel, joining Sky Sports Main Event UHD on channel 401, and suggests that the broadcaster may be on a path to launching more dedicated UHD stations in the future.

Eligible Virgin Media customers can also access Sky Sports F1 UHD on channel 533.

The new F1 season begins this weekend in Bahrain with Max Verstappen as the returning defending champion.
