Sky Sports confirms that its new dedicated tennis channel will launch on February 11.

Sky has confirmed that its new dedicated tennis channel will launch on February 11.

The new station - Sky Sports Tennis - joins the broadcaster's portfolio of dedicated channels for specific sports which also includes the Premier League, football, cricket, golf, Formula 1 and horse racing.

From this season Sky is the new broadcaster of most ATP and WTA tournaments in the UK and Ireland, taking over from Amazon's Prime Video, and also has exclusive coverage of the US Open.

Sky Sports Tennis will launch on Sky channel 408 on February 11, moving to a new permanent home of 407 on February 13 when Sky Sports NFL rebrands back to Sky Sports Action. Further EPG switches are expected for Sky Sports Action and Sky Sports Arena to accommodate the new channel, with the key 412 slot having recently become vacant.

Viewers will be able to tune in to multi-coverage via the Sky Sports mobile app or the red button, while the Sky Sports Tennis channel - and the additional court streams - will also be available to customers of Virgin Media, EE TV and NOW.

Jonathan Licht, MD at Sky Sports, said: "It's an exciting moment for Sky Sports as we launch a new home for tennis fans, and Sky Sports Tennis will give millions of homes easy access to watch the best players in the world all year round.

"We're proud to be the undisputed home of live sport for fans in the UK and Ireland, and this new channel will add value for our customers, enabling them to enjoy even more of the sports they love."

The first fortnight of programming includes coverage of the WTA tournament in Doha plus the ATP event in Rotterdam.
