Beverley Callard discusses 'Coronation Street' exit

Beverley Callard admits that she is still uncertain how Liz McDonald will be written out of Coronation Street.

Coronation Street actress Beverley Callard has admitted that she is still in the dark over how Liz McDonald will be written out of the show.

The 62-year-old announced last November that she would be departing the cobbles after 31 years playing the iconic character, promising that Liz would leave with "a bang".

"I'm due to film my final Corrie scenes in July and I have no idea what will happen," Callard told The Mirror.

"The only thing I've been guaranteed is that Liz is not going to die.

"It would be really good if she found love and happiness, but I can't see that happening.

"I'll miss the failed romances and the feuds, but not the fashion. On my last day I'll set fire to Liz's wardrobe."

Plans for Callard's exit may have to be adjusted in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, which has led to production being shut down on Corrie for the foreseeable future.
