Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod has revealed that Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) will be the centre of a social media stalker storyline in the coming months.
The Rovers barmaid is known for her love of social media and will be making the most of her influencer status as she prepares for her upcoming wedding to Daniel (Rob Mallard).
The story will take a twist, however, when one of her followers develops an unhealthy obsession with her - potentially leaving her in danger.
"The headline description is that this is about a young woman on the internet and the dangers that face influencers," MacLeod told reporers.
"It's high-profile but in her case, with quite a small-fry online following, and it brings her into a certain degree of danger as the wedding approaches.
"Mini-Ken Barlow wants a serious and cultured wedding, but Daisy wants everything to be a bit extra. There's fun to be had there, but in the background, a creeping danger arises from her online life.
"By the time that surfaces, it takes a while for them to realise danger's brewing, and we're into an interesting current, socially-important story with far-reaching psychological impact running across the whole of 2023, and threatens their relationship, leading to her faith in him being shaken as she maybe has her head turned..."
Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1.
