Coronation Street legend Helen Worth reportedly signs a new one-year deal to stick around as Gail Platt.

Coronation Street legend Helen Worth has reportedly signed a new deal keeping her on the cobbles for at least another year.

The actress has played Gail Platt since 1974 and this July will mark a huge milestone of 50 years working on the soap.

Corrie has a long-standing policy of only offering 12-month contracts to the cast - even its longest-running stars - and The Sun says that Worth, 73, is the latest to sign a new £250,000 deal.

A source told the newspaper: "Helen is dedicated to the soap and is determined to help steer it through a rocky patch.

"She is bonded to her character and is excited about her upcoming storylines for the year ahead. She still enjoys her work and seeing her castmates and crew every day."

Others to put pen to paper on new contracts in recent weeks have included fellow legends Sue Nicholls (Audrey), Bill Roache (Ken), Michael Le Vell (Kevin) and Sally Dynevor (Sally).
