Coronation Street's new executive producer Kate Brooks teases the arrival of a new family on the cobbles in 2025.

Coronation Street's new executive producer Kate Brooks has revealed that a new family will be joining the cobbles in early 2025.

The characters - Mick, his wife Lou and their kids - are described as the "neighbours from hell" who strike up a friendship with Chesney (Sam Aston) and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell).

The family also seem to have some history with Gemma's brother Kit (Jacob Roberts) as they will start to 'unpack his past' after he arrives.

"We've got some great characters coming in. They are Mick and Lou. They're coming to live at the back of Chesney, on Maudsley Street across the ginnel," Brooks told Digital Spy and other press recently.

"They are livewires, they are ruffians and they are going to cause a lot of damage and chaos. There is a link to Chesney initially, but they are coming to stir up a lot of trouble.

"They open up the floodgates by unpacking the past of Kit, who's one of our big characters."

She added: "We're really excited. They come in with oodles of drama and they are shaking things up. They're neighbours from hell. They're overfamiliar, likeable and they've got kids.

"Initially they develop a friendship with Chesney and Gemma, but there are other things to unpack. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of them – especially Mick.

"They are brilliant actors. They are coming to cause some chaos on the street and they will leave a trail of devastation. They're coming onto the street all guns blazing around February time.

"They're really chaotic but really enjoyable. They have a charm to them, but they do and say things that you shouldn't!"

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7am on ITVX and at 8pm on ITV1.
