Coronation Street star Todd Boyce says that his character Stephen will start to 'get more desperate' as his past catches up with him.

Coronation Street star Todd Boyce has said that his character Stephen will get "more desperate" as his murderous past starts to catch up with him.

After returning to Weatherfield last year, the son of Audrey (Sue Nicholls) and brother of Gail (Helen Worth) has transformed into somewhat of an inadvertent serial killer, with his body count standing at three so far.

In this week's episodes he could well claim his fourth victim as he is seen drugging his fiancée Elaine (Paula Wilcox), who later collapses - and Boyce has now acknowledged that his character inevitably has a shelf life.

"We are going to see him start taking risks as he gets more desperate," he said.

"His life is starting to unravel and it is going to be interesting to see how he deals with the pressure.

"He is bound to start making mistakes and that could be his undoing."

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
