Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod has revealed that the domestic abuse storyline involving Yasmeen (Shelley King) and Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) will run until the end of the year.
The slow-burning plot took a grim twist last week as Yasmeen - under a barrage of abuse from Geoff - snapped and stabbed him in the throat with a broken wine bottle.
Geoff survived the attack and in last night's episode woke up to insist that his wife had tried to kill him, only for Alya (Sair Khan) to return and tell the police that he had been abusing Yasmeen for months.
Speaking to The Sun about how long the storyline will run, MacLeod said: "The timelines have been shunted due to the lockdown but I think it's fair to imagine that it will [end] this year.
"What form that comeuppance is is in discussion. We wanted a redemptive ending for Yasmeen obviously and the toughest it's going to get for her is over the next months.
"It's towards the end of the year but the key thing is to impart the right message. For the sake of the people it has impacted we have to tell the right ending with some positivity.
