Gabrielle Glaister will reportedly make a surprise return to Coronation Street as Debs Brownlow later this year, 22 years after she last set foot on the cobbles.
The sister of Natalie Barnes (Denise Welch), Debs appeared in the soap between February and November 2000 - leaving in a storyline which saw her run away for a new life with Natalie's boyfriend Vinny Sorrell (James Gaddas).
The return of Debs to the show appears to be a curious move as the character has few connections remaining on the street, with Natalie herself having departed mere months after she left - although she did spend several months working for Audrey (Sue Nicholls) in her salon.
Talking about her return, a source told the Daily Star: "Gabrielle was approached by Corrie execs earlier this year.
"After a series of top-secret meetings, she signed on the dotted line.
"Everyone is now really excited about Debs returning to Weatherfield. It's going to be a brilliant blast from the past for fans.
"The writers are planning some great storylines for Debs. There's going to be plenty of drama."
The newspaper says that Glaister has already begun filming new scenes, meaning that she will be back on screen at some point this autumn.
