Joe Frost describes his time on Coronation Street as "a dream come true" as Leo leaves the cobbles.

Joe Frost has described his time on Coronation Street as "a dream come true" following his character Leo Thompkins's exit from the cobbles.

Leo, a civil engineer, first appeared on the Street a year ago as part of the sinkhole plot but ended up sticking around when he became the toyboy lover of Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews).

In a shock twist earlier this week, Leo was killed off when he rumbled the dodgy dealings of Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), who saw red and murdered him by throwing him off the factory gantry.

Taking to Twitter to confirm his Corrie exit, Frost wrote: "Oooft. What a ride... Six weeks that turned into a hell of a year. A dream come true for a lad from the North West.

"Can't thank the whole team at @itvcorrie enough for letting me add my footprints to the cobbles. (This one was for you Gran...) Now how's that sinkhole looking? #Leo #Corrie #OverAndOut"

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
