Mikey North teases Gary's Coronation Street future

Mikey North suggests that Gary Windass will be behind bars in Coronation Street for some time to come.

Coronation Street star Mikey North has suggested that his character Gary Windass may be in prison for some time to come.

Gary is currently in prison on suspicion of attacking Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), even though his younger sister Faye (Ellie Leach) was actually responsible for the crime.

In scenes to be shown next week, Faye will admit the truth to the police - although in an interview with This Morning today, North revealed that he is still filming scenes set in prison.

"I love the stuff they give us, so long may that continue," she said. "I am in my own little prison bubble right now.

"I have no idea what is going on [with other storylines] as all my scenes are the prison scenes."

Confirming that he has just agreed a new deal to extend his stay on the soap, he added: "I have just signed a new contract so I am here for the next while.

"I've had a good few years, so I can't complain."

Gary has yet to receive his comeuppance for the murder of Rick Neelan, although police investigations in that case are still ongoing, suggesting that Gary's extended stay behind bars could be related.
