Tonight's episodes of Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been dropped from the ITV schedules following the death of The Queen yesterday.
The monarch passed away peacefully at Balmoral at the age of 96 on Thursday afternoon, bringing to an end more than seven decades of the second Elizabethan era.
ITV has been broadcasting ongoing news coverage of the seismic event since lunchtime on Thursday and now the network has postponed all of its remaining Friday programming.
The news means that hour-long editions of Emmerdale and Coronation Street will now be broadcast next week, along with the hour-long Emmerdale episode which was postponed on Thursday night.
As things stand ITV intends to continue with a mixture of news coverage and documentaries related to The Queen until 6pm on Saturday, after which normal programming will resume with episodes of Ninja Warrior, The Masked Dancer and The Voice.
