Warner Bros chairman Toby Emmerich has confirmed that the studio has given the official go-ahead to a sequel of The Batman.
Robert Pattinson's dark take on the superhero received significant praise from film critics and fans alike, while at the global box office it has earned an impressive $759m (£602m) to date.
Appearing at CinemaCon earlier this week, Emmerich announced that Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz (Catwoman) and director Matt Reeves would all be returning for the follow-up.
No further details - including a projected release date - were revealed at the event, although the most likely release date would be late 2023 or early 2024.
The Batman is the first film in a proposed trilogy featuring the caped crusader, while various spinoff TV shows are also in the works for HBO Max.
