Quotes
Millie Gibson (Ruby Sunday): "Oh my god. [The] Bridgerton [episode] I had the most fun filming. I just was floating around in my princess dress like I was the queen or something. I was just taking myself off – we were filming in the most beautiful manors. We filmed in three different manors. It was like when I used to play dress-up when I was younger. I was like, 'This is the real thing and I've got my own castle!'" (SFX)
Chris May (Producer): "It has felt like we're making an episode of Bridgerton but this is Doctor Who, so the minute you step out the doors of the ballroom, you step into the dark. There's something amiss out there in the night. There are whole other things going on!" (Doctor Who Magazine #604)
Ben Chessell (Director): "This feels like a classic Doctor Who episode and I'm enjoying that about it. It's a period setting, there's hidden alien evil, there's death, it's got a locked house murder-mystery kind of vibe to it too." (Doctor Who Magazine #604)
Jonathan Groff (Rogue): "Being chased by an alien was the first thing we shot, and I was like 'what is happening?' It was very strange, very surreal. To be with The Doctor and running away from people who are dressed as birds, it was really funny. It really felt like I was in a sci-fi show, it was great." (Doctor Who Magazine #604)
Pam Downe (Costume designer): "I don't know if viewers will pick up on it, but the burgundy velvet of Ncuti's jacket is a nod to past Doctors. I like to put little nods to the past in where I can." (Radio Times)
Russell T Davies (Showrunner): "Indira really leaned into it. She's in what we call the Bridgerton episode set in 1813 in Regency Bath. She kind of looks like a lady at the manor - she looks very privileged, posh, haughty, smart and aloof. And then oh my god she lets rip and runs and fights and is completely wonderful, so that was a joy to see." (Metro)
Jack Murphy (Choreographer): "I was asked if I'd be interested in working on the Regency episode. I said 'Yes, I would love to, so long as you let me do the Twist because I'm never allowed out of the 19th century'." (The Sun)
Indira Varma (The Duchess of Pemberton): "The Duchess is from Regency Era England. She's a woman of society and is throwing an enormous party. It's all very fabulous and fashionable, her costume is amazing. We find her at the centre of it all."
Script Snippets
Ruby: "Oh, this is so Bridgerton!"
The Doctor (to Rogue): "The brooding look works really well for you. Do you practice in a mirror?" (Doctor Who Magazine #604)
