Ncuti Gatwa's version of The Doctor in Doctor Who will reportedly have Wellington boots as his signature fashion item.

Previous incarnations of the Time Lord have variously worn a hat and colourful scarf (Tom Baker), a trench coat (David Tennant), a dickie bow (Matt Smith) and braces (Jodie Whittaker).

According to The Sun, the incoming Doctor will be donning wellies when he emerges from the TARDIS after taking over from Whittaker.

"Every Doctor gets their own look every time they regenerate, and they always seem to have a very British edge thanks to the choices," a source told the newspaper.

"Ncuti, who's partial to an eccentric outfit himself, has recently said he's having input into the Doctor's clothes, so it's not a surprise something as unconventional as wellies are in the mix."

Whittaker's final episode as The Doctor will air this October, although whether her Doctor will regenerate directly into Gatwa's remains unknown as it has also been confirmed that Tennant is returning to the show.
