Adam Rickitt has joined the cast of BBC daytime soap Doctors, it has been revealed.
The 45-year-old is a veteran of the genre, having first appeared as Nick Tilsley on Coronation Street between 1997 and 2004.
The actor then moved to New Zealand, appearing in Shortland Street from 2007 until 2010, then in 2017 he joined Hollyoaks.
Playing the character of Kyle Kelly, he had some major storylines during his time on the Cheshire-based soap - including a love story with a character played by Duncan James - but left when Kyle was written out in an emotional suicide plot three years later.
Discussing his latest soap role, a Doctors source told The Sun: "Adam was amongst the best soap actors in the country so it was only a matter of time before he landed a new role.
"He's really excited to get started on Doctors and bosses can't wait to see how viewers react to him.
"Adam has spent a lot of time working on his bar but is in a position to get back to acting now."
The soap is currently on an extended summer break and will return to BBC One on Monday, September 4.
