Peter Crouch is to spend the 2021-22 season attempting to revive the fortunes of non-league side Dulwich Hamlet for a new Discovery+ docuseries.

National League South side Dulwich Hamlet have been revealed as the subject of Peter Crouch's new docuseries.

As previously reported, the former Liverpool striker will spend the 2021-22 season working with a lower-league club in an attempt to revive their fortunes.

Streaming service Discovery+ has now identified the club in question as Dulwich Hamlet, who are based in South London and currently ply their trade in the sixth tier of English football.

Crouch previously spent a short time on loan at the side in 2000 but will now return as part of the board of directors.

In a statement, the board said: "We are confident having met Peter that his commitment to his day-to-day work with us will deliver what we have long been looking for, camera or no camera.

"Critical to our decision on the series was a belief that being able to show a wider audience that a community and fan-led and managed club can be a successful and sustainable model is a huge opportunity for the non-league football family.

"We were ultimately swayed after knowing that Peter's own condition for participating was to be given a chance to make a real and impactful difference and so with that shared purpose and motivation we look forward to welcoming Peter back to the club, joining our community and delivering for us in the areas we have not been able to address from within and that pose a real risk to our future if we fall short."

The series, which has the working title Save Our Beautiful Game, is expected to start streaming on Discovery+ later this year.
