Brian Conley has revealed that he was keen for his EastEnders character Rocky to get involved in a relationship with Kim (Tameka Empson) when he first arrived in the Square.
Rocky first appeared in Walford in May 2021, originally masquerading as the long-lost father of Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) but later revealed to be a member of the Cotton family.
He has since gone on to become an integral member of the Square and in scenes last week he got engaged to Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) - but he has now revealed that Rocky's love life could have gone in a very different direction.
"I love [Tameka Empson]," he said. "When I first came in, I wanted Rocky to be in a full-on relationship with Kim for the great comedy.
"We could have been shooting scenes in bed like Morecambe and Wise, just talking about the world. It would have been really funny."
On Rocky's relationship with Kathy, he added: "It was love at first sight for Rocky, and it's taken Kathy some time to come around to that.
"Of course, they did have a big break-up last Christmas when it came out that Rocky wasn't really who he said he was, but over the last year, he's clawed his way back into her good graces. Kathy realised that Rocky was pushed into pretending to be Sonia's dad by Dotty.
"He's also done a lot to support and help Kathy over the last year, like when Ben was going through hell, because he loves her. Rocky is absolutely over the moon with how it's all panned out."
EastEnders continues Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One - although due to the World Cup, some episodes may instead air on BBC Two over the next few weeks.
