Charlie Wernham joins the cast of EastEnders playing Aaron Monroe, older brother of Dana and son of Harvey.

Charlie Wernham has joined the cast of EastEnders as new character Aaron Monroe, it has been announced.

The actor previously played Robbie Roscoe on Hollyoaks between 2013 and 2016 and has also appeared in multiple comedy shows including Bad Education and The Inbetweeners.

Aaron arrives in Walford to see his dad Harvey (Ross Boatman) and little sister Dana (Barbara Smith), who've recently moved to the square, and decides to stick around.

Described as "fiercely loyal" but also "arrogant", Aaron has a flash job working in the city and has been doing his own thing for some time.

"It was always a childhood dream of mine to be in EastEnders," said Wernham.

"It's a show that's constantly on TV in my household as my family are massive fans so it's always been close to my heart. I can't wait to get cracking and join an incredibly talented cast!"

EastEnders exec producer Jon Sen added: "We're very happy to be welcoming Charlie to Walford. His character Aaron joins the Monroes, our newest family set to move into the Square with connections to the Beales.

"In many ways he's the opposite to his sister Dana and Harvey's relationship with them both is likely to be tested. There's more to Aaron than his bravado lets on and we look forward to Charlie's arrival on screen later this year."

Wernham's first scenes will air this autumn.
