Olly Alexander will make a special guest appearance in EastEnders ahead of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, it has been revealed.
The singer and actor - frontman of Years & Years - is representing the UK in Malmo next month with his song 'Dizzy', hoping to improve upon last year's disappointing one-from-bottom finish.
In his EastEnders cameo, Olly visits the Queen Vic to reconnect with old friend Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) after finishing up a rehearsal session nearby.
He gets a hero's welcome from the residents of the square and, having been buoyed up by the celebratory tone of the occasion, one Walford regular decides to pop the question to their significant other.
"I'm thrilled to be making my first appearance on EastEnders and in the most iconic pub in the UK," said Olly.
"I'm so happy I got to meet some true screen legends and spend time on set with the brilliant cast and crew. I wanted to surprise my mum as it's her favourite show but I guess the cat is out of the bag now, she's gonna love it!"
Exec producer Chris Clenshaw added: "When we discovered that Olly Alexander was a huge fan of the show and an opportunity arose in one of our stories, it was the perfect moment for us to invite him to Albert Square to appear.
"We hope the audience enjoy Olly's special guest-appearance as much as everyone at EastEnders enjoyed having him in Walford."
The scenes were filmed last month and will air in an episode ahead of Eurovision in May.
