Emmerdale's executive producer Jane Hudson has revealed some major teasers for the soap's upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations.
The show will mark the milestone occasion with a whole month of explosive storylines throughout October and now Hudson has confirmed that the central plot will be "a massive storm" which tears through the village.
"As part of our big fiftieth week, we will focus on a massive storm that's going to rip through the village and leave a trail of huge destruction," she told reporters on set earlier this month.
"Some of our best loved villagers will be in peril and the village will never be the same again after this. The impact this storm has on people's lives is massive."
Hudson also confirmed that three characters will be returning for the 50th - Liv's brother Aaron (Danny Miller), Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) and the legendary Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen).
"We also have the return of some very familiar faces to the Dales," she continued. "Diane, Aaron and Tracy will all be making a re-appearance, albeit on a temporary basis, but they'll be at the heart of some really big stories that will impact their lives."
Meanwhile, Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) will lose her battle with cancer, surrounded by friends and family; Kim Tate (Claire King) prepares for her wedding with Will (Dean Andrews) and pregnant teen Amelia (Daisy Campbell) goes into labour amid all of the chaos.
Emmerdale continues weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
