More than 1 million tune in for Euro 96 replays on ITV4

ITV's rebroadcast of the Euro 96 tournament in full brings in impressive ratings for ITV4.

ITV's decision to rebroadcast the Euro 96 tournament in full during the coronavirus lockdown has brought in impressive ratings this month.

All 31 games from the contest are being made available for streaming in full on the ITV Hub, while the five games featuring England are also being shown on ITV4.

The rebroadcast of England's game with Scotland was watched by a peak of 1.1 million viewers, with peaks of 700,000 for the game with Switzerland and 500,000 for the encounter with the Netherlands.

"With football on hold in the UK, we're glad fans are engaging with Euro 96 Revisited on the ITV Hub, ITV4 and across social media," said Paul Mortimer, ITV's head of digital channels.

"There's a lot more to come, so hopefully they can continue to enjoy the tournament as it enters the knock-out stages."

Meanwhile, coverage of the games on ITV Hub has attracted almost 600,000 requests to date.
