Australia reselect Montaigne for Eurovision 2021

Montaigne confirms that she has been reselected to represent Australia at Eurovision 2021.

Australia's entry for this year's abandoned Eurovision Song Contest, Montaigne, has confirmed that she will represent the country next year instead.

The rapid spread of the deadly coronavirus disease led to this year's event - due to be held in Rotterdam in May - being cancelled for the first time in the competition's 64-year history.

Australia have become a firm fixture at Eurovision in recent years and this year the Aussie public selected Montaigne, a 24-year-old singer and activist from Sydney, to compete with her song 'Don't Break Me'.

Due to Eurovision rules, songs originally lined up for this year's contest cannot be resubmitted in 2021 but artists selected this year are eligible to return.

In a Facebook video, Montaigne revealed: "I'm feeling real calm and relaxed and having a lie down because I've been guaranteed to do Eurovision 2021 next year, which is extremely exciting.

"I'm very grateful and very keen to make new music to produce a new song and figure out a new performance for next year.

"I'm sad that I couldn't do this year's because I thought it was going to be really cool, but really happy to get another chance at it.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far and will continue to do so, I'm sure. Stay tuned and watch this space because there'll be stuff to come."
