Cornelia Jakobs will represent Sweden at this year's Eurovision Song Contest after triumphing at Melodifestivalen.

The 30-year-old scored a table-topping 76 points with the professional juries for her song 'Hold Me Closer', which combined with a second-place 70 points from the voting public to help her secure the victory.

Anders Bagge came in second with his song 'Bigger Than The Universe', while 2019 representative John Lundvik could only manage an eighth-placed finish with his attempt to get reselected.

Taking to Instagram after her victory, Jakobs wrote: "I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS... THANK YOU FOR ALL THE LOVE!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE VOTES!!!!!!!! I PROMISE YOU THAT I WILL PUT MY HEART ON THE STAGE IN EUROVISION!!!!

"there is so much more I want to say about this... People I want to thank. But right now I can't express myself clearly because my brain is destroyed by yesterday's celebration and emotional explosions..."
