The ten acts put through from the first semi-final of Eurovision 2021 are revealed.

The ten acts put through from the first semi-final of Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam have been revealed.

Three of the favourites to win the entire contest - Destiny of Malta, Elena Tsagrinou of Cyprus and Go_A of the Ukraine - all secured safe passage, as did Eden Alene of Israel, TIX of Norway and Tusse of Sweden.

The four remaining spots went to Lithuanian group The Roop, Russia's Manizha, Efendi of Azerbaijan and Belgian band Hooverphonic.

Once again Ireland failed to qualify for the final as Lesley Roy's 'Maps' fell at the first hurdle; the most successful nation in Eurovision history has now failed to make it out of the semi-finals in six of the last seven contests.

Meanwhile, Australia failed to qualify for the first time ever since their debut in 2015, with their act Montaigne having had to pre-record her performance after coronavirus travel restrictions prevented her from flying out to the Netherlands.

Slovenia, North Macedonia, Croatia and Romania also missed out on places in the showpiece Saturday event.

This year's contest remains an open race, with the likes of Italy, France, Switzerland and Iceland also among the bookies' favourites.

The second semi-final, in which another 17 countries will compete for the final 10 places, takes place on Thursday evening.
