Freya Skye, a 13-year-old schoolgirl, has been chosen to represent the UK at this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Armenia next month.
Earlier this year the UK - host of the main contest in 2023 - confirmed that it will be returning to participate in the junior edition, which features contestants aged from nine to 14, for the first time since 2005.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast this morning, Skye said: "I couldn't believe it when I found out. I was not expecting it at all, it still doesn't feel real that I'm going to be representing the UK.
"I feel so lucky to have been given the opportunity to be a part of something so exciting.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so I'm going to go and give it my everything and I hope to do the UK proud."
For the first time the contest will also be broadcast live on BBC One, as well as CBBC and iPlayer, on December 11.
