Greece selects 16-year-old Victor Vernicos for Eurovision 2023

Victor Vernicos, a 16-year-old musician, is announced as Greece's representative at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.

Victor Vernicos will represent Greece at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, it has been announced.

Although Ukraine triumphed in the 2022 contest, runner-up the United Kingdom is hosting in Liverpool this May due to the ongoing invasion by Russia.

Each of the participating countries will name their act over the course of the next couple of months, and Greece has confirmed the selection of 16-year-old Vernicos.

The youngster, who will become Greece's youngest ever representative, was chosen by a combination of votes from an 'Audience Committee' and an 'Expert Committee'.

Vernicos is half-Greek and half-Danish and wrote his song, 'What They Say', when he was aged just 14.
