Wild Youth beat Sex Pistols legend John Lydon in the contest to represent Ireland at this year's Eurovision.

Wild Youth have been selected to represent Ireland at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

The four-piece group are already well-established in Ireland and have toured there with the likes of Niall Horan, Lewis Capaldi and Westlife.

Their song, 'We Are One', finished top in Friday night's selection contest, beating an entry from Sex Pistols legend John Lydon.

Wild Youth's Conor O'Donohoe, who stepped up to replace injured frontman David Whelan, said: "We hope everyone can get behind the song and that we can do everyone in Ireland proud. We want to thank all of our families, they have supported us from day one."

The group will take to the Eurovision stage in Liverpool in the first semi-final on May 9.
