Turin will host the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in May following Maneskin's triumph earlier this year.

Turin has been revealed as the Italian host city for next year's Eurovision Song Contest, beating off competition from 16 other bids.

Italy will be hosting for the third time in the competition's history following Maneskin's triumph in Rotterdam in May, with Turin following in the footsteps of Naples 1965 and Rome 1991.

The host venue in Turin will be the 13,000-seater PalaOlimpico, while the dates of the semi-finals are confirmed as May 10 and May 12 and the final has been set for May 14.

Martin Osterdahl, Eurovision's executive supervisor, said: "Turin is the perfect host city for the 66th Eurovision Song Contest.

"As we saw during the 2006 Winter Olympics, PalaOlimpico exceeds all the requirements needed to stage a global event of this scale and we have been very impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment from the city of Turin who will welcome thousands of fans next May.

"This will be the first Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Italy in 30 years and, together with our host broadcaster Rai, we are determined to make it a special one."

Details of ticketing are expected to be made available in the coming months.
