TikTok star Sam Ryder has reportedly been chosen to represent the UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.
The UK enters this year's competition in Turin after an embarrassing bottom-placed finish in Rotterdam last year, when James Newman managed an unprecedented nil points from both the professional juries and the voting public.
Ryder, 31, is a singer-songwriter from Essex and his potential participation in Eurovision has been deduced by fans, who have spotted that not only has he cancelled a string of gigs around Eurovision week but also that his song 'Space Man' has been recently playlisted by Radio 1.
The song has been particularly championed by R1 DJ Scott Mills, who hosts the BBC's Eurovision coverage in the lead-up to the grand final.
Ryder's entry for the UK will reportedly be the aforementioned 'Space Man', an uplifting ballad strewn with James Blunt-esque falsettos.
The BBC's official announcement of this year's entry is expected imminently.
