American Song Contest is delayed by a month due to coronavirus concerns.

The upcoming US adaptation of Eurovision, the American Song Contest, has been delayed by a month due to coronavirus.

The competition will feature entries from each of the 50 states, plus five territories and Washington DC, in a multi-round battle to crown a winner.

The show will play out over eight consecutive Monday nights and had originally been slated to begin on February 21 on US network NBC.

NBC has now confirmed that out of an abundance of caution for coronavirus, the premiere date has been pushed back exactly one month to March 21.

The news means that the grand finale will air on May 9 - the same week that Eurovision 2022 takes place in Turin.
