Lorraine Kelly grills Matt Hancock over Good Morning Britain boycott

Lorraine Kelly challenges health secretary Matt Hancock over the government's boycott of Good Morning Britain.

Lorraine Kelly took health secretary Matt Hancock to task on this morning's edition of Lorraine for the government's ongoing boycott of Good Morning Britain.

The government has refused to allow any ministers to appear on the breakfast programme for around three months following a number of fiery interviews with host Piers Morgan.

With Morgan now on holiday for the summer, however, Hancock appeared on sister show Lorraine this morning and as the interview approached its end, she challenged him about GMB.

"Thank you for coming on to talk to us, we really do appreciate it," she said. "You know what? The guys at GMB are very nice. You can talk to them too."

Laughing, Hancock replied diplomatically: "I love ITV, it's great to join you and and to be able to chat."

The exchange did not go unnoticed by Morgan, currently holidaying in the South of France, writing on Twitter: "Awww, look who sneaked back onto ITV the moment I left the country. ⁦.. it's our fearless Health Secretary @MattHancock!"
