Jake Gyllenhaal reveals that he is a huge fan of The Great British Bake Off and outlines a desire to meet Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal has revealed that he is a huge fan of Channel 4's The Great British Bake Off.

The amateur baking competition is watched by more than 10 million viewers in the UK every year but has also built up a legion of international fans including in the US, where it is released through Netflix.

Brokeback Mountain star Gyllenhaal has now confirmed that he is a member of the show's fanbase and hopes to "one day" meet judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

"In my mind, there's literally nothing that can beat [The Great British Bake Off]," he told PA.

"I do hope to one day meet Paul Hollywood, though Prue is my favourite. I'm mesmerised by her spectacles. Her coats or spectacles change and it's almost as if they change every shot.

"Or do they change every show? I can't figure it out. And I just adore her. Prue's fantastic.

"I do really love Mr Hollywood, but you know, she's amazing."

The new series of Bake Off is currently being filmed and is expected to air on Channel 4 from the end of August.
