Hollyoaks cast 'to have one-on-one chats with execs after racism row'

The cast of Hollyoaks are reportedly having one-on-one meetings with execs amid the soap's ongoing racism investigation.

Cast members working on Hollyoaks will meet with executive producers one-on-one after the soap was accused of behind-the-scenes racism.

Rachel Adedeji, who is poised to leave her role as Lisa in the coming months, alleged earlier this month that she had received or overheard multiple racist remarks during her four years on the show.

The comments were followed up by the reveal of a leaked WhatsApp message from Lysette Anthony (Marnie), who described co-star Adedeji as having an "embittered, traitor vibe".

Production company Lime Pictures launched a full investigation following Adedeji's claims and, according to The Sun, the soap's most senior figures have begun mediation talks with the cast in an effort to smooth out tensions.

"Bosses have been meeting with the cast one on one and have called as many cast members as they can into meetings to speak about racism and bullying on set," a source told the newspaper.

"They've promised everyone that works there that changes will be made."

Filming of new episodes of the soap stopped in March due to the coronavirus pandemic but will start up again in mid-July.
