The annual Christmas party for the cast and crew of Hollyoaks is axed for the second year in a row due to coronavirus fears.

The annual Christmas bash for the cast and crew of Hollyoaks has reportedly been cancelled for the second year running.

Due to the emergence of the Omicron strain of coronavirus, the UK government has tightened up public guidelines - including reintroducing working from home and increasing the use of masks.

Although work Christmas parties are still allowed, The Sun says that Hollyoaks producers have cancelled their plans out of an abundance of caution.

"Everyone was hoping the party would be happening, so were gutted when they heard it wasn't," a source told the newspaper.

"Some of the cast will hold their own celebrations but it won't be the same huge booze-filled bash it usually is.

"Bosses have to keep the safety of everyone in mind and this is the sensible thing to do."

Coronation Street is also said to have cancelled its festive celebrations, while the Strictly Come Dancing end-of-series wrap party is also thought to have been shelved.
