Channel 4 announces that Hollyoaks will be streamed globally on YouTube from now on.

Channel 4 has announced that Hollyoaks will be made available to global audiences on YouTube for the first time.

Last year the soap moved to a digital-first strategy, with new episodes premiering on Channel 4 streaming ahead of their linear broadcast - and in a further change, later this year the weekly episode count is being reduced from five to three.

UK viewers have been able to watch the show on YouTube - albeit delayed by one week - since last year via the official Hollyoaks account and now this has been opened up to a worldwide audience.

Kate Little, joint MD of producers Lime Pictures, said: "Hollyoaks is always synonymous with digital firsts and I am delighted that the show's global audience will now be able to find and watch episodes when they want on YouTube.

"With a proven track record of enticing younger viewers with gripping storytelling and engaging characters, this digitally-led offering of episodes will allow new and existing audiences worldwide to get their Hollyoaks fix with ease."

Twenty episodes, starting with April 19th's Pride special, are now available and new episodes will now follow in sync with the UK drop dates.
