Hollyoaks will employ flashbacks when the soap returns to the Channel 4 schedules next week.
Due to a production pause caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the long-running serial dropped off the air on July 20 but is back with four episodes a week starting on Monday.
The soap will employ a time jump when it returns, meaning that episodes will take place in the present day, although the first three episodes back will feature flashbacks to the day of Scott and Mitchell's wedding - using scenes that were filmed before lockdown began.
At the same time a new mystery will be introduced, as in the present day multiple characters are interviewed by police about a "crime" that took part on the wedding day - and Mitchell is noticeably absent.
New episodes will air Monday to Thursday at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look following at 7pm on E4.
Hollyoaks Friday Favourites will air weekly on E4 at 7pm, starting with a classic episode from 2006 on September 11, while the Friday gap on Channel 4 will be filled by an additional episode of The Simpsons.
